Main Deck Layout

The main deck contains the wheelhouse, galley and saloon.  There are boarding gates on the port and starboard sides as well as on the aft deck. The interior spaces can be accessed from the port and starboard wheelhouse doors, the starboard side door into the saloon or the sliding double doors from the aft deck.

Saloon

The saloon was stripped bare and totally rebuilt in 1997 by a skilled shipwright.  All of the furniture units were custom built, to our design, using teak with corian tops and frosted glass doors.  The headlining is Alcantara suede effect and the lighting is LED globes in polished stainless steel fittings.  The saloon is a large, open space measuring 6m x 4m which contains the living area, dining area and workspace.  Having separate seating and dining areas is very unusual in a motor yacht of this size and it is a very practical feature as it means no messing around with high/low tables and allows both spaces to be used simultaneously.

The saloon is decorated in a modern style with teak walls and corian topped teak storage and entertaining units.  There are large windows on both sides which provide a great view to the outside and ensure that the saloon is always bright and well ventilated.

In the forward part of the saloon, on the port side, there are 2 black, leather sofas in an L-shape and a large rustic hardwood coffee table.  Opposite this, on the starboard side, is an entertainment unit which contains a Samsung 80cm LCD flat screen TV, Onkyo receiver, Panasonic DVD player/recorder and Yamaha surround sound processor.  Sound is delivered through Bose Accoustimas speakers with hidden sub woofer and Wharfdale surround sound speakers.

In the aft part of the saloon, on the port side, there is a free standing dining table that seats 6 but can be extended to seat 8 and a corian topped, teak storage unit with glass doors.  Opposite this, on the starboard side, is a workspace area with a desk big enough for a computer and printer with storage underneath for files and documents.  There is also a large teak bookcase with a corian top and glass doors which matches the other built in units.  Next to this bookcase is a staircase which leads down to the aft master cabin.

Galley

The galley was refitted in 1997, maintaining the original teak cupboards but updating the work tops and appliances to modern standards.  The galley provides the work and storage space that you would expect in a home kitchen with the ability to cook for large numbers of people and store enough food for long cruises.  All of the appliances are domestic sized and include; Miele dishwasher, Ariston oven, Bosch induction cooktop, Ariston extractor fan, Rancilio espresso machine and grinder, AEG fridge/freezer and a Liebherr freezer.  There is a large opening window on the port side for natural light and ventilation.  Flooring is teak parquet, headlining is white formica with LED lights in stainless steel fittings.  Forward from the galley is the wheelhouse.

Wheelhouse

The wheelhouse is the primary control position for Akuna (the second is on the flybridge).  There is a comfortable helm chair within reach of all the major controls.  The helm area includes a full size chart table with storage underneath and the main AC and DC electrical panels including remote start and stop for the generator.

The helm console contains the engine instruments, GPS, navigation screen, compass and controls for the autopilot, stabilisers and bow and stern thrusters.  Above the helm are the radar, VHF radio and wind and depth instruments.  Behind the helm chair there is a built in sofa seating 4, with storage underneath, a utility cupboard and shelves to store books.

The wheelhouse has port and starboard doors to the side decks, a stairway leading up to the flybridge and a stairway leading down to the forward cabins.  It is teak lined with teak and holly floors, teak plank headlining, teak side doors and LED lights.  Visibility is excellent through the 3 large forward facing windows and ample side windows.
