History

Akuna, then called Yemen V, was delivered to its first owner in London in 1979.  This owner took the boat to Spain where it remained until purchased by the second owner who took the boat back to his home in Liverpool in the UK.  This was where we purchased the boat in 1995.  At the time, we were living in Portugal so in September of that year we took the boat to our home in Lagos and renamed her Akuna.  That was the third time that Akuna had made the passage between the UK and southern Europe via the bay of Biscay.

When we purchased Akuna she was in good mechanical condition, but the interiors were tired and old fashioned.  Our plan was to take advantage of the huge interior and exterior spaces and transform her into a modern, comfortable motor yacht that we could live aboard while we explored the Mediterranean.  Akuna was not going to be a holiday boat that we used for a few weeks of the year, it was going to be a boat that we could live on all year round and travel in comfort and safety.

Now, after 28 years of ownership, we are based in Greece .  Along the way we have visited all of the European Mediterranean countries, had many adventures and made many friends.  During that time, Akuna has been a safe, comfortable, economical and reliable cruising home.
